Faculty College: Just Databasing Around

Faculty College: Just Databasing Around In-Person

Join us in the Bernice Fauber Baker Active Learning Lab, Archer Library main floor, for a lively two-part presentation. Participate in a “speed database" active learning session exploring a traditional database, open education resource, and public access resource. Meet potential database candidates, determine compatibility, select the best match for your research, and create a database advertisement for your students.

The session concludes with a speed round of useful tips for: (1) locating and identifying resources in the A to Z Database List; (2) saving articles in Ebsco and Google Drive; (3) using permalinks to share articles in Blackboard Learn; and (4) requesting library instruction sessions and LibGuides for your course. Participants are encouraged to bring a mobile device to the session; iPads will be available.

ACRL Framework for Information Literacy

The database activity in this session, Just Databasing Around, addresses two frames in ARCL's Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education; searching as strategic exploration and authority is constructed and contextual. Learner knowledge practices and dispositions are identified in the library instruction and LibGuides tab.
